Tony Sermonti - Principal

  • Tony Sermonti excels in effective communication with the media and public, managing crises, and translating complex public policy into actionable information for top elected officials and executives. His approach to successful government relations is rooted in high ethical standards and a positive, proactive approach.

  • Prior to starting Sermonti Public Affairs, Sermonti served as rapid response and communications advisor in the Washington State Senate from 2007-2010. During his tenure, Tony curated many strong relationships based on trust and bipartisanship on both sides of the political aisle in the State Capitol.

  • Sermonti then served as the Policy and Legislative Director for the Washington State Department of Licensing from 2011-2017. The agency regulates more than 35 different businesses and professions and has a significant role in the state’s transportation system. He also managed a high profile legislative agenda, which encompassed involvement in many policy areas, including data privacy, fuel taxation, vehicle and driver policy, and technology procurement.

Adán Espino Jr - Senior Associate

  • Through his work as a lobbyist advocating for the needs of students at the University of Washington Tacoma, Adán Espino developed a strong understanding and instinct for translating policy ideas into legislative action. His efforts resulted in a program that now houses over 120 formerly homeless students.

  • Espino also worked alongside other higher education lobbyists to secure the passage of the Washington College Grant, which provided unprecedented funding and services to the higher education system, and significant capital construction investments in UW Tacoma.

  • At Sermonti Public Affairs, Espino specializes in nonprofit and equity client relations. He aided the grassroots organization for expanded passenger rail in underserved communities, which included communities in eastern Washington and students, and the development of a youth civic education and leadership training program for Latinos and POC. This program has currently educated and trained 100+ students, and is partnering with high schools and their school districts to offer expanded opportunities for students of color.

  • Espino earned a Bachelor’s in Law and Policy from University of Washington Tacoma, where he continues to serve as an alumni councilmember. He has a strong passion for public policy and doing simple, good work.
